sizeable chunk being stuffed down a small hole; the coal isn't too toxic,
but the trauma of having something like that forced down a fragile oriface
would cause massive tearing, bleeding, bruising, possible broken neck as the
troll holds the victim still, etc.

If you want to add a sick twist to this idea, have the coal transformed into
Ghost Rock if the kid is "bad" -- now the child's soul has merged into the
coal.  Can the posse get them out and/or stop the abomination before someone
else (Mina Devlin's witches, La Croix' minions, etc.) learns how this is
done.
