Re: [DL] Deadlands and the Draka

Since the Draka timeline deverged from normal during
the late 1700s but mostly involved south africa
dropping them into deadlands history would probally
not effect the setting much at all unless you are
setting your game in africa.

If you want Draka running about in the wierd west,
consider that the draka would be the only other slave
owning nation around. This would mean that the draka
would be willing to offer military support to the
south where the british would not since the brits did
not want to support a slave owning south (at least I
think that what was going on with the brits). This
would mean that the south would continue slavery
makeing for a very different deadlands setting.

For the Draka in a deadlands setting thier conquest
of africa would grind to a hold since tribal shamans
would now close the technology gap between native and
draka with shaman magic, and if the native hold all
major ghost rock strikes, the Draka would have a
vested interest in allying with the south which has
access to ghost rock and the manufacturing to produce
the new science weapons of war.

I could see the Draka offering to guard the western
parts of the south so that the south could
concentrate thier troop to defend the main front,
this would minimize contact with the north so that
the Draka could claim that they were not entering a
war with the north. This would also allow the Draka
access to the richer ghost rock mineing in the west.

Some things to remember with the Draka is that they
hate americans, probally northern and southern, and
that they are slave raider which will take any non-
white (at least only non-whites at this time) as
slaves if they can get away from it.

With this kind of attitude they make even
better "feel-good about killing them" bad guys then
even nazis.
