No need to apologize.  It has been brought up several times -- including
before the d20 version came out.  In the end, those that began with the PEG
ruleset like it better while those who came to Deadlands from d20 prefer d20
(although you get some crossover).  In the end, it doesn't matter too much
so long as you enjoy the setting.
