But Deadlands doesn't really have "levels"

this is actually why i LOVE deadlands so much
a character just starting out has just as much chance
of getting killed by a stray bullet in a gunfight as
an experienced character (not including chips)

another reason I don't like d20, or level-based rpgs
the only thing that makes starting characters in
deadlands weak is the fact that they don't have alot
of skill points so they're largely unsuccesful when
lockpicking, searching, or trying to remember what
they read in the Necronomicon (academia: occult)
