Re: [DL] keeping players alive - armor



Historically, armor disappeared from use by the military becuase it became 
cheaper to have large numbers of guys without armor.  Plus, it was easier to 
beef up the guns to pierce the armor than it was to beef up the armor. (this 
is from Clavell's Technology and War, and GURPS:High Tech)

Note than epalets (the flappy-thingies on the shoulders) are vestigal armor, 
designed to deflect saber cuts.
