Re: [DL] Dixie

Hi,
IMDB.com's includes a reference to the "The Bonnie Blue Flag" in Glory being exactly that:  a tune used by both sides.  There were many such tunesArguably the most famous tune to be used by both sides was "the Battle Hymn of the Republic" a.k.a. "John Brown's body".  Two warring factions of a nation(s) united by music.  ;-)

Myself, I've always preferred _The Bonnie Blue Flag_, but they
didn't ask my opinion.;-)

Likewise. And this leads to a minor flub that I spotted in 'Glory.' A
Union band playing _The Bonnie Blue Flag?!?_

Might not be a flub.  'The Bonnie Blue Flag' tune was used for a few Yankee songs also.  I know the 69th NY Irish used the tune for the song 'Irish Volunteer'.  It is pretty much the same as the tune for British songs were the same as some Rev. War American songs.
