Mostly because we feel that it's our job, and therefore dying is no
excuse for running away. Also because PCs are stubborn creatures--
arrogant, too. *g* We can't even _conceive_ of losing.

Seriously, though. I think it also comes down to the fact that we get
it into our heads that we're not supposed to run-- to get to the next
adventure/story/etc., we have to finish this one. And running doesn't
really seem like a finish to most people.

Unless you make the bad guys so stupid-hard that we will see we're
going to get our butts kicked in the first two rounds if we don't run,
then you MIGHT have somebody suggest it, then get smacked down by the
rest of the posse for suggesting it. *g* Otherwise, if the bad guys
just barely outpace us consistently, we're likely going to try and see
the fight through.

Posses are weird that way, I reckon.
