Just a few idears;

Stigmata always fun, a little bleeding from the palms every time he uses 
his powers can freak some people out, specially natives who don't believe 
in christ.

Have something hunting him thats too tough for the posse to fight but 
real easy to hide from, them have it sensitive to the use of miracles, 
the posse will not be in much danger, but the more miracles he uses the 
more likely it will be to show up. Even if the posse just drives it off 
have it take out a few horses or the barns of innocent bystanders to give 
him something to worry about.

Let a few of the bad guys "see the light" after witnessing one of his 
miracels, then have them follow him around hopeing to redeem themselves 
while constandly telling everyone of his powers and holyness.

Have all the local manitou get scared off everytime he roll a 20 for a 
miracle, if the posse got a Huckster he can't use his spell till they 
come back.

Give him a sign of divine favor, have him float up in the air when 
calling on the lord, and then deal with the old opposite and equal 
reaction when trying to shoot from thier, or deal with a brightly lite 
halo that hangs around for hours when he wants to sneak around.
