they did some rules adjustments.  
  I think that they did a very good job of not repeating themselves on arcanes
(the templar rules are original and the doomsayer spells are nice), but there
are good corrolations (may/may not be a word)  between deadlands and HoE
characters.  You can basicly play almost any Deadlands character type plus
about a dozen more.
