My first thought was to suggest one of my old girlfriends... :)

After that little bout of silliness, I came up with having a large, black,
possessed car come callin' on the heroes.  There was a movie called "The
Car" (I think) back in the 70s which dealt with a demonic or possessed car
killing people and I seem to recall it actually doggedly hunted someone...
