[HoE] First Impressions [Shane]

Howdy,

I received my copy yesterday.  Unfortunately I was busy last night and only
read about the first 30 pages or so.  So far I am fairly impressed.  I
specifically appreciate the way Shane and co.  took to heart a lot of the
questions and suggestions that have crossed this listserv (well the *other*
one, but you know what I mean) and incorporated them into the *new* rule
book.

For example, I never really understood how mixed attribute rolls worked
(i.e., Knowledge: Shootin), but now I do.  Some of the things that I really
only understood from the list, have been re-written to be clearer on a first
read (i.e., opposed rolls, "successes" = "success + raises", etc.)

Also, although I've never been a big fan of "flavor art" I started noticing
it in the Deadlands products.  I am very impressed by the (IMNSHO) higher
quality artwork in HoE.

Be prepared for a barrage of questions/comments on Monday (grabbed a new pad
of Post-Its for the weekend read!)
