[HoE] Junkers
First, I agree with everyone that until the Junkers sourcebook
comes out they are pretty much worthless. Either the player and Marshal
is going to have to put a lot of time into making new "powers" or they
are just going to have to not play them. I wish the Junker sourcebook
was one of the first they were doing. All the other Archetypes seem to
be playable without their sourcebooks.
Junker Gear.
I was having a problem visualizing Junker gear until people
started making them up for the list. I know understand. Someone on the
list made an Energy Bow and several other people have made things and
complained about the weight of the finished items.
In the examples I saw no one started out with any basic
materials, (for example I will use a bow for the Energy bow and an arrow
for the Spirit Arrow.). This means the Junker was making the item from
the equivalent of scraps of metal and other items not normaly involved
in the created items use. Try making anything from scratch, it usually
takes a lot more stuff then it does to make the normal item.
For Example Prince Nightchild did this:
<Sprit Arrow
<Power: Damage
<Components
<Structural: 7 Mechanical: 6 Electronic: 3 GR: 3 per shot
<Mods: Damage: 3d6 (45 points) Spiritual Damage Only: +100%
<RoF: 12 (+200%) One-use weapon: -50% Wind Damage only: -25%
<Total Mods: +225%
<Total Points: 146
<Theory: The Spirit Arrow, when fired from a normal bow, explodes into
<12 small shards of purely supernatural energy, which spiritually damage
<any living being it hits. Firing spirit energy, it does ignore armor.
<Weight: 28 lbs
<Weapon Speed RoF Dam Rng
<Spirit Arrow 1 12 3d6 Wind 5
Now, the way I see it. This means his Junker went somewhere,
found the parts to a car, a vacuum cleaner, and a radio and made this
arrow and a way to fire it ONCE why does it have a ROF? This is
important folks. Not only did he create an arrow, but he created a way
to USE without anything else. That is why the cost are so high and the
items way so much.
Now, however lets say I start with an arrow.
1. I all ready have the theory (thanks Prince Nightchilde.)
2. Okay per Prince Nightchild.
3. Buy the powers:
Damage: +3d6 (45 points)
Spirit Damage only: +100%
Wind Damage only: -25%
One-use Weapon" -50%
Total cost: 56.25 rounded to 56.
Note: since this arrow can only be
fired once I do not give it a ROF.
4. Assemble the components.
The says I need: Structural 2.8, Mechanical 2.24, and Electronic
1.12. Now, as the Marshal I am going to make a judgement call. The
player started out with an Arrow. So I am going to say he supplied the
Structural and half of the mechanical parts. Marshal's will have to
decide this on part for themselves, but the physical arrow would be 90%
of the item IMO. Therefore he needs:
Mechanical 1
Electric 1
For a cost of the Arrow plus $13 worth of parts.
The weight of the item is the Arrow plus 1lb 8oz.
5. It takes my Junker 2d6 hours to make the arrow versus a TN of 9.
