The Postman has always been one of my favorite books.  David Brin did a darn
good job in it, though I think the ending could've been a lot stronger.

The Holnists definitely have a lot in common with the Combine.  If you don't
want to deal overly much with the supernatural, you can always put the PCs
in the middle of an upcoming Holnist expansion - to find that they're being
pushed out of California by troops wearing an emblem of a bear on the arms...

Without going into any more spoilers for The Postman here (though y'all can
feel free to), do you think the Holnist's enemies would definitely do better
with some Doomsayers? :)
