Re: [HoE] One small complaint....

  If I want a realistic, gritty, post-Apocalypse fight-for-survival I'd
just play Twilight 2000 or Aftermath, where entire sessions could be spent
trying to get together enough food not to weaken and catch a fatal disease,
or repairing the truck after driving four point six miles.

The hell with that crap. I want to have fun, not worry about dysentary
and head lice.
Mutants. Radiation magic. Junkers and Templars and the walkin' dead. I
want a movie Apocalypse, where things can be dire but only if the story
calls for it.
That said, if you want to run a campaign where your posse has to wallow
around in the ashtray of civilization digging through the smoked-down
filters just to find a few shreds of usuable tobacco, hey, what's to stop
you? Just toss the parts of the story that don't fit your vision and get
on with things.
It's much eaiser to leave out aspects of a game you don't like than it is
to make cool stuff up yourself; I like the fact that PEG stuff their books
full of all manner of different material and let you pick and choose from
what you like...
