Also, it's likely that w/ both, death wasn't caused by a Maiming head
wound. Lincoln for example, lingered on for many hours after being
shot and it's believed that improper treatment by doctors sealed his
fate. Basically, he took say a Serious Noggin' wound that increased to
Critical due to a Medicine roll gone bust and died of the resultant
bleeding. Hickock took a more serious wound, likely a Critical that
also likely cost him a lot of Wind so that he quickly died of blood
loss before medical care could be administered. In both cases, enough
gray matter was left for the Manitou to do its thing.
