I think it depends on the size of your play group.  There's a certainly a 
sense that, "We should have one of A, one of B, one of C,", etc.  Thag goes 
back to D&D:  "Okay, we need one Cleric, and one Thief, and one 
Magic-User..."

However, the benefit of this thinking is once your party has one of each, 
the attitude tends to be, "Okay, that's all we need."  That, and it's easier 
to role-play the character when you're not overshadowed by someone of the 
same basic "type."

So if you got only 4-6 characters, yes, the percentage of Arcane 
Backgrounded folks will seem high.  If you have 8-10, though, it's not as 
significant an issue.
