Your Welcome.
And as I noted, the Armor/Durability thing was intriguing,

Still attempting to determine the amount of Damage applied to the armor when an
attack hits. However normal armor would degrade. And still not explain the
price difference.
However any result will need book keeping and this is invalid under condition C
of the Steve rules of correct fixes. And seems like more of a pain than one
additional die roll. To me anyway.

Okay that rules out changing the price.. which is your main concern here by
your question. Check.
> B) penalizing the players under the misconception they are trying to abuse

That rules out any change to the armor that makes it more expensive in terms
other than "money".
If a rule, or price as we are discussing here, is faulty and the Players follow
it as printed they are not "Abusing" the system. They are simply playing.
Unless the system is perfect or shepherded this will happen. If you insist on
keeping the price the same building in a "Balance" to a super cheap suit of
armor isn't penalizing them. However you don't want to do that, so on to C.
> or C) adding more bookkeeping and die-rolling on to the existing system.
Bad dice! No more rolling. I agree here, have enough dice zooming around in
HoE. However my fix does require one more roll. And in the case of Armor it
does come up a lot in combat. Which is a bad thing, but it is an answer. Not
the one you were after though. :)
You have pretty much ruled out any form of answer as I can see. I would be very
interested as to what you end up with as all our answers are unfeasible by your
qualifications. I would very much like to see it. Very.
You don't wish to change or build house rules so a fix that way isn't coming
up. You don't want a new die or simply change the price of construction. (Which
cant be done without affecting everything else, as you have mentioned.)
Purchasing is different but you have also negated that in Matts post.
Well that's it.
Congratulations. Within your succinct definitions you have created an
unsolvable problem.
That's pretty cool. I am sure you will find more and tear that can-o-worms open
again to our amazement.
The rest of us will have to be content with solving these with our mishmashed
rules that we will willingly offer to you as long as you ask.
