Oh, this is too weird... I was thinking about White, Exley or Vincennes from 
L.A. Confidential (maybe even Dud Smith? hehe). I am actually working on 
Dave Klein from Ellroy's book White Jazz. Not exactly a good guy, but...fun 
to play, maybe.

Some other ideas...The Punisher (Marvel Comics. Please forget the movie or 
the weird angel comic line), John Clark or Ding Chavez (Tom Clancy novels), 
Vess (Koontz's Intensity), Shalako or Calleghen from the Louis L'Amour 
novels...wow...this is fun.
