Hoo-wee!  I'm not sure what you did with your format in your post, but
man was that hard to read (or is it just me?)!  Aside from that, the
Shimmer seems pretty cool.  I have a recomendation on "pack size".
Perhaps you should change "1d8" to "one per member of the posse plus an
additional 1d4" (or something like that..."one for every two members,
rounded up/down plus blah blah blah" if you think that's too much).
This ensures that you don't end up with a "pack" of 1.  Just a
suggestion.
