That still doesn't make a whole lot of "realworld" sense. Face it, the
first shot is going to make the gun buck, and unless you're superman (who
is faster than a speeding bullet) you're not going to be able to pull the
trigger a second time before the first bullet kicks the gun up a bit. As
such it's iffy at best that two bullets could hit the same location
(except by random chance).
I don't know though, I haven't fired any guns since I was pretty young
(and not very strong), so my experience is lop-sided toward not being able
to keep a gun aligned over multiple shots. What are other people's
experiences?
To me it seems like the whole double-tap thing was a cludge because
someone at Pinnacle said "You know, it's a lot easier to squeeze the
trigger on a 9mm than a .357..." So in fairly typical pinnacle fashion
they came up with a new rule that was a bit on the complicated side "Hey,
we'll mak'em double-taps, and you can do either, but it's harder to do the
second one, and it has different effects depending on which one you do,
and..." and published it. Then, in equally pinnacle fashion, they realized
the rule was probably more of a pain then it needed to be and someone said
"Wouldn't it be easier just to give them a ROF of 2?" <insert sound of
smacked foreheads> And finally, in perhaps the best example of typical
pinnacle, they put the rule out as soon as they could in a supplement and
on the web (as opposed to other companies that wait 10 years for a
revision to fix all the problems in their system, I'm looking at you
WoTC/TSR. Don't try to hide in the back! We all see you slinking around
back their with your d20 system! Don't point fingers at each other, you
know you're both to blame!!!)
