Thus, neither patent nor copyright would prevent PBM from using an owl as a mascot image. In addition, more than one kind of owls exist, and more than one IMAGE of an owl exists. As long as the image that would be chosen would be readily discernible from the image used for the TV show, there should be no problems. Furthermore, that show is not the only company that has an owl as a trademark, but (of course) each owl trademark image IS different, hence there are no conflicts.
