Re: [PyrNet-L] What questions do I ask?
Ask how long they have been envolved in pyrs, what they know about the
breed (do some reading so you will know if they are familiar or just
spouting words) and what health clearances they have gotten on their
dogs.
Ask for the OFA rating (should be fair, good, or excellent) which is
what dogs are given if their hips pass OFA and ask about wether or not
the dogs have had their shoulders and elbows x-rayed as well.
Then ask about the pedigree on the dog. The breeder should be able to
give you parents, grand parents, and grt. grt. grand parents, write all
this down and then get back to the list, the folks here will help you
trace the dogs and tell you about them.
If the breeder cannot supply any or part of this information, just hang
up, their are too many good breeders around to be bothered with people
who don't do health clearances.
