[PyrNet-L] Pyr Memories?

Hi everyone,

This is not so much a question as a request for similar instances...

In March 1997 we collected Sasha from UK Rescue (care of Lorna Ireland).
She, Sasha that is, had been with Lorna for 2 years. When we returned in
January of this year for our second Pyr (Cottee) we took Sasha with us.
She greeted the kenne1maids and Lorna's husband (Tony) in a friendly
sort of way but when Lorna came out Sasha went potty. She stood on her
hind legs, put her front paws on Lorna's shoulders and gave her lots of
love and kisses. This took us by surprise because Sasha had never shown
any inclination to do this before. I guess that she had fond memories of
Lorna.

Last night we had some friends stay over and to ensure that everyone had
a bed for the night we pulled out a sofa that converts into a bed. We
put down a sheet, pillows and a duvet, as per normal. Then something
strange happened. Sasha walked into the living room, took one look at
the bed and jumped on it and laid down in the middle just as if it was
the most natural thing for her to do. She has been with us for a year
and has never even shown an inclination to get on the furniture or any
of the other beds. Prior to that she had been in kennels for 2 years. So
it is at least 3 years since she has done this.

Just how long can Pyrs go without seeing someone and then recognising
them instantly? And, how long can they go without doing something before
an event triggers a memory and a reaction?

Fortunately, for us, the camera was handy so a Kodak moment wasn't
missed! The pitcure of Sasha on her bed/settee will be put on her WWW
site just as soon as we can get the film developed and the pics scanned!
