[PyrNet-L] CHAT, EVENTS: Initial kickoff--North Florida Great Pyrenees Club Meeting

A desire for a regional Pyr fancier's club in North and Central Florida has finally been met!

DATE FOR THE FIRST MEETING OF THE NORTH FLORIDA GREAT PYRENEES CLUB HAS BEEN SET!

A group of Pyr fanciers has formed with the following short and long-term
goals in mind:

1.  To maintain and further the integrity of the breed.
2.  To hold regular club meetings, matches, public education and fun
activities.
3.  To obtain affiliation with the GPCA.
4.  To exchange ideas regarding care, behavior, training, health, breeding, and rescue for Pyrs.
5.  To investigate formal AKC affiliation and endorsement.

Preliminary club documents have been developed.  These documents include a constitution, by-laws, a code of ethics and a rescue policy.  A Club newsletter has been published, and is waiting for the initial membership role to be established, then will be mailed out. Committees, membership, and the initial club documents will be discussed during this first meeting. Officers will be elected through a democratic process.

Numerous Pyr owners have been contacted and have expressed interest in becoming members and officers of this exciting new club!  

The initial club meeting will be held on Saturday, April 4 at the Greater
Ocala Dog Show Grounds, located in Ocala, FL  2.3 miles north of SR 326 on the eastside of CR 25A. The meeting will be held after the pyrs have been in the ring. Pyrs will be reporting to Ring # 1 at 12:45 P.M., so come on by and we'll let you know when the meeting will occur. Help us make this regional club a great success!!!!!
