Re: [PyrNet-L] CHAT: Pyr that bit

For once I can brag about Noah. Since we got Noah at 8 weeks he immediately
was immensly socialized with children--all children. He went to preschools,
public elementary school, ball games, came in contact with every child in
our neighborhood, every visiting child, every child of every age. Noah may
be "too playful" with a child running in our backyard but he has never
growled, snapped, or biten a child. He learned from the day we got him
that: kids are noisy, kids can be impulsive and harm w/o meaning (the 1 yr
old toddler who tugged on his tail), kids don't always do the "right" thing
(sometimes the smaller ones barge into your house w/o knocking looking for
your son, your not supposed to bark menacing at a child no matter what
(barking so they'll come over and pet you is to be expected). With the
house I have (I have an open door policy for all kids, neighbors, and it
seems lately, their pets--I cannot be worried about Noah misreading a
child's action and biting. I mean, have you ever watched kids play? What
if he attacked every kid who was tackling one of my sons in a game of
football? To a dog, that may look like his child in trouble: screaming
kids, someone chasing "his boy" and knocking him to the ground?
Now, strange adults are a different matter altogether and he knows it
(although he hasn't figured out that the UPS man doesn't qualify as a
stranger. When I researched the breed (and unfortunately the write ups
weren't to thorough) it always said that they were good/gentle with kids and
could tell a truly dangerous situation--to me, no 8yr old should be
considered dangerous. But, alas, maybe this write up wasn't correct.
I realize that I'm not an expert here--JMHO
