[PyrNet-L] CHAT: Albert & his new playmate!

Albert and his new playmate are getting along pretty well, but very
differently than him and his sister Heidi. Anxious to see if she is sweeter to
him after she is neutered. (Maybe they call them bitches when unneutered for a
good reason!) She does this snapping at him thing as she runs around him.
Makes a noise as she snaps. We figured out she is trying to herd him! The
snaps are not to hurt him and they seldom come within 6 - 10 inches of him
even. They are just a herding thing I think. Albert wasn't sure what to make
of it. She does get bossy though and sometimes grabs him under his ear by his
ruff. Never draws blood though. Some-times he gets bugged at her and flattens
her with his paw and just holds her down.
Mostly they just play & play & play and then lay down together and cuddle!
They are inseparable already. If I invite him upstairs alone to give him extra
attention he keeps looking behind him at her longingly. Then she whines. They
really vie for my attention when I first get home or first let them out of
pen.
They play constantly practically. Last night Albert got a rag that he plays
with and put one end in his mouth and teased her with the other end and she
grabbed it and they played Tug O' War with it! Albert beats her easy at it,
but he tones it down for her. She'll lay down to try to hold on better and
he'll drag her all over living room!!
She had the nerve to jump on HIS loveseat tonight. He freaked out, tried to
climb up, too and nose her out of the way. She stood her ground and he seemed
to give up. I thought he was so chivalrous! A real gentleman! Then he got a
ball and came over to the loveseat and teased her with it. Then he even
bounced it in front of her. She started to get down to get the ball and
Albert lunged to jump on his loveseat and she beat him to it! He tried the
ball bouncing a few more times, but she was wise to him. Then he got the rag
and teased her with it! When she grabbed the end he pulled her off the
loveseat with it! Then the mad dash was on for the loveseat again! Over and
over again!!
Albert is acting so much more mature now. It's weird! George was shocked
because he wiped up a bunch of water she spilt (She always spills her water!)
and he left the towel on the floor. (MEN!! GRRR! He should know better!! I
have so many towels with teeth mark holes in them!) Later he went downstairs
and the towel was where he left it and not ripped or chewed at all! SHOCK!!
Albert is not chewing destructively as much now. (Knock on wood! Don't know if
it'll last or not, but nice for now!)
She doesn't seem to want to chew destructively at all! But she has a good
nose on her! One thing Albert has always been good about is leaving the coats
alone in the entry foyer. Twice now she has pulled a coat down and did not
chew it at all, but she found doggie treats in a baggie in the pocket and ate
them all. Then another time she found a pack of gum and was chewing the whole
pack! Wrappers and all! Luckily we got it away from her! So we will have to
watch what we leave in the pockets of our coats it seems.
The cat Chester still swells up twice his size around the new pup! Amazing
how big he can get when he makes all his hair stand up!! Took cat to vet
today and he's OK. Just getting fatter. Common at his age of 2.5 or 3 yrs. vet
said. He said let him out to hunt more. Nothing to sweat yet though. Got more
Advantage for Chester and Albert. Not sure pup's weight, so will wait until
she goes to vet Monday to get spayed and shots and do it Tuesday after I go to
pick her up and know her weight.
After she gets spayed it will be hard to keep her mellow around Albert.
Maybe I'll have her in house and sleeping in his crate???? That'll be hard.
They play so hard that I'll be hesitant to let them play right after she is
spayed. Although she is a tough gal and could probably stand up for herself
just fine. We'll see how it goes. I'll have two days off when she comes home
to watch over her during the days. Hubby can watch over them when we are at
rehearsals in evenings. I'll probably try to keep them separated some or at
least try to supervise them when they are together. Since she is getting
spayed so much later than Albert's sisters were it'll be a bit harder on her
recuperation-wise.
She is even more of a talker than Albert and she barks some too. Not too
much, though.
I'm letting them sleep inside tonight as it is really stormy out. This will
be her first night inside. Hope she doesn't have any accidents. Got my fingers
crossed. So far we have never had her have any accidents in the house. :)
Albert definitely thinks this is the best toy we have ever gotten him!! He
is thrilled with her! And vice versa!! They are sure cute together!

:) & :)``` (me grinning & Albert grinning & drooling!)
