Re: [PyrNet-L] Re: Animal experiences.

OK, OK, you'll all like this one......

Panda-Pyr is up on the couch, sprawled from one end to the other, one eye
open, half asleep.
Comforter on floor in front of couch is decorated with cat, large, black and
white, three-legged variety (a.k.a. Stumpy), sleeping soundly, no doubt
dreaming of desert islands teeming with three legged mice.
Hoover's snoozing under the dining room table with Moshe Dayan, the 17 year
old cat.
Standish, beagle, thinks this is boring. She picks up stuffed police car, gets
into "lets play" position, and bites police car. The siren starts. Panda opens
eyes.

Again. "Lets play", bite the car, siren. Panda's head comes up. Stupid humans
think this is adorable. Stupid humans don't notice Panda is getting into
position.

Standish tenses. Her tail wags. She looks at Panda... she bites the car....

Panda's off the couch like lightning!! Jumps off the couch, lands squarely on
Stumpy! Stumpy yowls! Scares the hell out of Moshe, who jumps up so fast she
whacks her head on the dining room chair. She yells. Hoover's trying to get up
on the polished wood floor, slipping and sliding, crashing into the chairs!
Moshe streaks for the basement door. Stumpy, now up and moving on his
remaining two feet, is gimping as fast as he can toward the same door. Panda,
on a full head of steam, races after the screaming police car and the fleeing
beagle, and literally runs over Stumpy, stepping on his head. Now Stump's in a
complete panic. He and Moshe crash into each other on the top step! Panda hits
the door as she blows around after the beagle, who is zig-zagging around the
parlor (excuse me, "living room") as if she's after a fleeing bunny, bumping
the door closed on Moshe's tail. Moshe hollers. Hoover's up by now, and tries
to head beagle off at pass to GET THE POLICE CAR. They decide to flee
downstairs into basement/ family room. Beagle sticks nose in door, opens it,
flies down stairs, terrified cats ahead, Stumpy trying to run on TWO feet, too
scared to even look back. Three dogs, total of 210 pounds plus or minus, pile
down stairs like herd of elephants. Formerly slow-moving humans follow (to
collect cat corpses), crashing into each other on the stairs. Stumpy gets run
over yet again as entire mass of moving dog fur tumbles into family room,
growling, rolling, having a grand time. Seething mass of dogs crashes into
wall, turns around, and goes for a second shot...........

Poor cat sat there shaking his paw, trying his best to stand on the hurt paw
to use the good paw to massage his hurt head, for a good 20 minutes. He slept
on the recliner in the family room that night.

I'm happy to say all survived, though the police car looks a little ragged!
