Re: [PyrNet-L] Chat: Lost Fur

Poor poor JOY!!!!!  Don't know what to say or any suggestions.  Just fell very bad for her.  Give her a hug and lick from us.  The  "guns to the pawn shop" sounds good to me!!!                 Sympathically,  Joy McCarron (Maggie's Mom)

Subject: [PyrNet-L] Chat: Lost Fur

I was not home at the time of the incident-
My husband had let JOY outside to potty and she went through the gate(it was still closed at the time) into the garden(all fenced). Husband had stepped back inside for less than 3 min(he said) when he came back outside she was literally rolling in stickers. Her formerly lush fur is now matted very close to the skin with stickers and he tried to help(he said) by putting water on her. This just made the situation worse.
I have tried everything I know to remove them. I have resorted to cutting and she now looks patchy. The vet said that the only way to get them all out is to anesthesia her and then do a comb out-or have her cut down. She is completely covered, tummy-back-pants everything. This is one miserable and sore dog, one extremely angry mom, and a husband that has so far paid 80.00 vet bill and with more bills coming if she must be asleep to have a comb out-which I dont want to do given my fear of all anesthesia. The grooming lady that gives her her bath was in tears, as was I. She did say that she could do a hair-cut w/o anesthesia using a #7 blade whatever that is. but she refused to try and comb it out because JOY is so throughly upset. Any advice is appreciated. She is an indoor dog-and I am so *#&%!*) mad I could scream the tears are all dried up now and all that is left is a white hot anger-he KNOWS he is in deep Q(*)($.  The groomer has volunteered to come to my home this evening and do the hair cut but I told her I wanted to ask the Pyr people first.  Tomorrow I am taking ALL husbands guns to the pawn shop-sell them and give the money to rescue. Let him weep for a few days like I will be doing.
