[PyrNet-L] The Pyrfect Pyr

Would like to think if there was such a thing Chris he/she would be living
in my house!! Judges are supposed to know the Breed standards of each Breed
they Judge and then make their decision on their knowledge of that Breed
when judging it. The Allbreeds Judge probably does not have the indepth
knowledge of a Breed as versus the Specialist Judge who has lived and
breathed a Breed for many years but who could be well inclined to award a
prize to a dog/bitch who resembles what they have bred in the past
themselves and I've seen this happen. The Allbreeds Judge may well go for
soundness, movement, presentation and not be too concerned about the finer
points such as heads. The winning dog.bitch of the day may well have been
widely advertised in dog magazines to which Judges have access but that
should not reflect on their decision either . So what the Judge should be
looking for both at Allbreed Shows and Specialist Shows is what is called
for in the Breed Standard and then balancing that decision on what they are
judging in the ring remembering that the "bit" held in the hand of the
exhibitor is not part of the dog!! Case in point many years ago when at a
Match with a non show Pyr, a Utility Judge was there with his Saints and
asked who I had. My reply was "Oh this is Harley, he's just a pet". His
comment was, 'Well he looks pretty good to me compared to some of the show
dogs here" so never take for granted that we think we know it all.
Would suggest you look at some of the websites for more info on the Breed
and you'll find that Cid is still the best Pyr!!
