[PyrNet-L] New with questions
Thanks for the welcome! We have just adopted
a 7 week old puppy, Sam< and he joins our household of Barney (our Dalmation,
age 6), and Tig the (the PO'd cat...: who just recently came downstairs after a
3 day *I'm mad* hiatus...) . Both Tig and Barney were brought up with
our german shepard which we lost about 8-9 mos ago to lung cancer, so they are
used to others being around, including my dtr's dog.
One of my questions: when
is it appropriate to start obedience school? I am starting leash training-
as we have no fenced yard- I have put him on the leash and let him lead for now,
to get used to having a bit of restraint. I praise him when he doesn't
pull against it, and when he decides he wants to lay down, I stop walking, call
to him and off we go again. I try to do this a couple of times a day...... and I
think he might be catching on- then he shows me that ain't the case. Also,
he loves to bite the legs of those walking by him (those puppy teeth are
SHARP!) and I tell him NO- he seems to understand *No* relatively
well.
Also, he has brown stains around his
eyes... is this common? And do they always leave the water dish before they have
swallowed the last gulp?????? He is SO messy...:):):):):) but what a
lover!
I have a couple of other questions too-
but today is the first vet check, so we will get
shots,etc......
