A pinch collar is a type of choke collar with what appears to be blunt 
"spikes" that are worn against the dog's neck.  Because they are blunt, they 
do not hurt the dog.  Also with the amount of hair around a pyr's neck, it is 
even less likely to injure the dog.  Anyway, the "spikes" add emphasis to 
your commands.  You don't need to have as much pressure when you tug on the 
lead...just a light tug will do.  This makes it a more attractive training 
tool - you don't have to keep jerking on the lead to get your point across.  
We used it on Tanuki only once, and he realised that he HAD to listen.  Just 
didn't like those things poking him in his neck.
