<< a) I am currently feeding Kyle about 4+/- cups of his puppy food twice a
day (diamond puppy premium brand I think its called) I don't think I am
under feeding him, but is this amount about right? I free feed my Mal, and
plan to with Kyle but for now wish to keep him regular if you catch my drift
=)

I would stop feeding him puppy food at this point; most Pyr puppy owners
stop at about 6 mo due the fact that the puppy food promotes rapid growth
which pyrs do not need and could lead to Pano. The amount appears to be OK.
I'd also be concerned about free feeding amale pyr -- I don't know of too
many that do well by this unless they are exercising alot. Pyrs metabolisms
are very slow as a rule and so despite their size, they don't need "alot" to
eat. Food amount should be controlled or they will do as dogs do, with the
result they get fat.

 b) What is up with this drooly-boy stuff =) Anyone have any tips on how to
teach this guy how to carry around a towel by default? The saliva really
does not bother me much at all, but well... the wife is another story =)

Well, that's the downside of the pyr; they drool, bark and shed, not
necessarilly in that order. And while they don't drool as much as other
breeds (say Newfies), they do have their moments that can occur at anytime.
The answer? Pyr towels strategically placed throughout the house and in the
car. It is a part of their attraction. :)

 c) From looking at his paperwork it looks as if we have the lineage written
out with many titles from the predecessors but I do not see where this
dog's name or any sort of identifying numbers are in the paperwork. What is
the best route to finding if the animal is indeed registered with the AKC
 or not?

I think you can contact the AKC though its webiste and find out. I'm not
sure and will leave that to others who know the ins and outs of AKCdom.

 d) What do I need to do in order to confirm his lineage and papers. I see
in the paperwork that he comes from a kennel called Rockcreek Farm in
Kent's Store, Virginia USA. According to the papers I have, he looks pretty
impressive with all of his predecessors' titles in various aspects. I do
plan on contacting the AKC as well as the kennel but wanted to find out
more about the AKC process and general info on what I need to ask the
breeder before I go stumbling, to either one =)

I don't know where you live, but you can contact the GPCA WEBSITE that
should have a listing for the closest GPCA affiliated regional club near you.
Contact that club and they should be able to answer your questions on where
to get information; also contact the club that includes within its territory
the Breeder and you should be able to get information on him/her that way
too. Good Luck.

And I too boo-hiss the prior owner who finds a dog dispensible because the
wife is "suddenly" pregnant. It burns my cookies that animals are so
disposable! Sheessh -- you don't think they don't have feelings? Obviously
his wife wasn't thrilled with the purchase to begin with and if that was the
case, he never should have gotten the dog in the first place. But enough
venting; I'm glad you could step in and give Kyle a proper home. Just
don't you give him up because of the drooling....:-)

And p.s. if this list isn't enough, you may want to consider joing the pyr-l
list too for more information.
