Robyn, actually I have a trucker's tire thumper!  I used to carry when I
walked on my own.  I stopped when we would walk with the foursome as I
was afraid I would end up wacking my own?!  But I agree, it might be the
thing to do.  The pepper spray is also a good idea and has been
mentioned, I do worry that I might accidently get it flowing back at my
own gang.  I also am annoyed that I have to be the one to actually do
this to someone elses animal.  Yeah ... I didn't think the old geezer had
that much coordination in him :-) , the " thunk" actually surprised me!
