Cindi,
Where do you live? If you are close to a regional pyr club contact
them for information on the breed. As to the underground fence, from
discussions on this and other lists, most pyrs do not do well with
electronic fencing. Pyrs need good fencing and some are still escape
artists. They also cannot be trusted off lead out of a fenced area.
Coming when called is not a high priority on their list of things to
do. Talk with the present owners about any health guarantee's they
got with their dogs. Were the parents hip certified etc. Why they
want to find a home for this particular dog is also a good question
to ask. A good book you can pick up at most pet stores or at
amazon.com is:
Great Pyrenees, A Complete Pet Owner's Manual, Joan Hustace Walker.

The following web sites are loaded with information about the breed.
An educated decision is the best one you will make. Good Luck and
please post any and all questions to this list, it's a gold mine of
experience and information.
