[PyrNet-L] Re: pyrnet-l-digest.19991110/dewclaws Vets and Breeders too!

Brandy, While I knew that Pyrs were meant to keep their double dews, I
questioned the list when I first joined. I wondered how many injuries
resulted from the double dews? Everyone assured me that it occurred very
rarely. Watching these dogs actually use their dew claws, and studying
their construction, I find that they actually are constructed in a much
more formidable way than just regular dews, I can see why it would be
more uncomfortable for the dog after having them removed. One dew, or
none, does occur within the breed, but it becomes a serious fault.
These guys really use those double dews, literally hanging by them at
times, and they seem to hold up remarkably well. Cindy.
