In 18 years and I've lost count how many dogs I have never had a working dog
injure a dewclaw.   I've had a few grow in a circle and back into the toe,
but that was my fault cause it was either missed during trimming or not cut
short enough.  We never remove the dew claws and this is one of the first
things I look for when rescuing a dog from a shelter.   I have to
discriminate on how many dogs I can take because my facilities are limited
so this is a top criteria for me.
