Re: [PyrNet-L] A wee double brag

Debbie, boy do I relate. I'm allergic to cats, but of course we have
three. I'm better as I get older ( years of desensitizing to the actual
animals rather than paying for shots ). My eyes used to swell and get
like fish eyes, hives, breathing problems etc. But I would rather live
with them than without. I still won't rub my face in a strange cats fur,
but I do fairly well with my own. I have the occasional nights
discomfort if the dogs come in on a rainy night with damp coats, and then
five of them are in the confines of the bedroom.

Still they give so much more, and our lives are richer for having them!
Also knowing that they suffer from allergies too ( not just a human
condition like a lot of people think ) and being sympathetic to them.

I agree with the getting old and not having animals. I can't imagine
life without them. My Mother gave up her dog and cat to go into one of
the apartment like, minimal care places, and I have seen her go downhill
so fast in these past couple of years, I just don't think it is worth it.
It amazes me that medicine now acknowledges the benefits of animals on
our health, and yet you still have places that make you eliminated your
family members at that time in your life! I just can't see it.

My Dad had one lung removed, so I know what you deal with. I'm glad you
have your fuzzy kids to help!
:-) Cindy.
