Re: [PyrNet-L] A wee double brag

<< I agree with the getting old and not having animals. I can't imagine
life without them. My Mother gave up her dog and cat to go into one of
the apartment like, minimal care places, and I have seen her go downhill
so fast in these past couple of years, I just don't think it is worth it. >>

My Mother will die before going into one of these types of homes. She has
Candy, her pyr, plus several rabbits, chickens, and indoor birds. I think
just having these animals -- being responsible for their wellfare and having
them as companions -- has helped Mother keep going. When we go away, I feel
guilty asking Mother if she'd mind looking after our critters. But I also
know if I didn't ask, she'd be put out. So we make it as simple as possible.
Mostly just coming over once a day to make sure all is in order.

I too wouldn't want to be without my animals. I realise that it is extra
work to accommodate an animal at a nursing or minimal care home. But I also
feel that if animals were allowed, the "inmates" would be happier and
healthier!

Just my opinion --
