[PyrNet-L] Is there anything a Pyr won't eat?

After much pleading on Gypsy's part, I agreed to share a stuffed
artichoke with her on Christmas day while we were waiting for our company
to arrive. To the amusement of my family, I carefully explained to her
that although dogs usually don't like this, I would let her try it if she
ate it properly. I then demonstrated the proper way to scape the
artichoke leaf between your teeth, being careful not to eat the tough
part. I offered her a piece, and sure enough, she carefully scraped the
soft part off the leaf, leaving the rest for me to dispose of. I
honestly believed that she would spit it out all over the floor and I
would have to do some quick cleaning before the company arrived, but she
loved it! One piece led to another and before you know it, we had
polished off the entire artichoke. This little scenario backfired on me
the next day when I reheated the one leftover artichoke. Although Gypsy
always asks for a taste of whatever anyone is snacking on, a mild
reminder that she should go lay down while someone is eating is usually
enough to prevent active begging. Not in the case of the leftover
artichoke! She barked, growled, howled, and carried on like you wouldn't
believe! When it became apparent that I was ignoring her in favor of
eating the artichoke and reading the newspaper, she stole the newspaper
off my lap and resumed her barking and growling. I took the newspaper
back, yelled at her fiercely, and tried to settle back down on the couch.
She then grabbed the couch cushion that I was sitting on and started
pulling! At that point I gave up and put her outside so that I could eat
that crummy artichoke in peace. Now I feel guilty both that I didn't
share the leftover artichoke, and that I let her ever let her try the
first one!
