Guess the real question is what is causing the hot spot? If it is a fungal
infection, then I would think the athletes foot medicine would be of benefit.
But if it's not, then it's a waste of money and effort. Hence this little
story -- Back in February, Zoe was "supposed" to have ringworm, and the vet
said to use an athletes foot medicine on the spot, in addition to giving her
the tablets. Well, after a month of treating both internally and externally,
it was no better. (And, BTW, none of the other dogs, cats, goats, or humans
had come down with ringworm!). Well, we went to our regular vet, and come to
find out, it wasn't ringworm at all, but an ingrown whisker! It had gotten
infected, and with a weeks worth of antibiotics, and some Otomax cream, the
site is now showing improvement.
