Re: [pyrnet] tear stains

Hi Charlie,

GirlDog has tearing/tear stains caused by seasonal allergies. She also once
had conjunctivitis on the same side as an infected ear. BoyDog, Badger ...
the one with the ear surgery ... has been having tear stains for the first
time ever. The vet says it has to do with drainage in his ears and will
clear up as his ears clear up. All that stuff is connected. I'd check
Jordy's ears and then determine if he's having other symptoms of allergies.

I use cotton balls saturated with an over-the-counter eye wash to clean my
pyrs' eyes every day. It controls the staining. GirlDog has the stained
elbows you described. Is Jordy's skin there red, irritated, and moist?
GirlDog seems to get these stains anywhere that's moist due to skin
irritation or her biting/licking. Again, the vet says it's seasonal
allergies. I haven't been successful with finding a way to remove these
stains but there is a web site that gives pointers on grooming pyrs. It
mentions something about using fabric bluing. The address is:
http://www.pyrnet.org/grooming.htm and it's under the heading of "show
bathing."
