Yes, all six of my dogs are chipped.  However, when a dog is found it has to 
be brought to a facility (animal hospital or shelter) that has the scanner to 
read the chip.  You do not know until you have the dog scanned.  Once again, 
in the essence of time, offices and shelters are closed  at night, etc.   I 
have often waited for an office to open when I find a collarless stray.  Just 
seems so much easier to have the phone on the i.d. or even embroidered into 
the collar.
