Re: [pyrnet] Need alternative to aspirin and Rimadyl

<<Any ideas for herbal or prescription pain and inflammation control would
be most appreciated.>>David

Not sure how much help I can be, especially if taking things orally is a
problem for her. I think I mentioned Bromelain earlier as an
anti-inflammatory. Some other things in case these haven't already been
considered or tried...

I have Juliette de Bairacli Levy's "The Complete Herbal Handbook for the Dog
and Cat which mentions mixing parsley and comfrey leaves with the food.
Comphrey is often called the 'arthritic herb'. It also mentions boiled
nettles as a curative, and rosemary brew (although can't locate a specific
'recipe' for this if there is one :-/).

Celery (more specifically the seed) is traditionally used for temporary
relief of rheumatic and arthritic pain.

Others that are anti-rheumatic or anti inflammatory: Feverfew, Licorice and
Willow Bark ('natural' asprin).

One I have heard a few people talk about as an inti-inflammatory is Saw
Palmetto (also a diuretic though so take this into account if relevant)

Avoiding the Nightshade family of vegetables is also recommended as these
can exacerbate the condition.

Flax or fish body oil can often help with providing relief, but if she can't
take it...:-/

Has you holistic vet come up with anything homeopathic that may help? Or a
tissue salt? Perhaps Nat Phos? (although he will be the best one to
determine if this is right for her overall condition or would do any good).

Hopefully at least one idea there for you to investigate.

All the best to you and the beautiful Clondike.
