Re: [pyrnet] a pyr owner wanna be!!!!

Brandi,

Welcome to the list.

Ms. Kerry Kern Woods of the Great Pyrenees Club of American (GPCA) recently
mailed me a (GPCA) booklet and a list of breeders in Texas. If you do not
already have these, you can e-mail her at woodskk@eburg.com to request them.
The booklet covers the topics on the GPCA web site, such as, Is this the
Breed for You and Buying a Puppy.

Also, depending on where in Texas that your mother lives, there is a Dallas
Pyr Club that is affiliated with AKC and GPCA. Their e-mail is on the GPCA
web page at www.akc.org/clubs/gpca. If there is an Indiana club, there will
be information there about it.

Last, if you are interested, you can subscribe to the GPCA official
newsletter without being a member of GPCA. The cost is $30 for one year
(six issues) or $40 with first class postage. Send check to GPCA to Darrell
Goolsbee, Editor, 6405 Brentwood Drive, Fort Worth, TX 78112.

These are great dogs, but like all dogs, they can be a serious pain at
times. Because of their size and temperament it is important to start
teaching manners and habits while they are puppies. If you want to know
more about this, you can read books like The Art of Raising a Puppy by the
Monks of New Skete, Dogs for Dummies, or the Idiot's Dog Book. Also, this
list is a great source of information and inspiration. Everyone else's dog
is a pain at times, too. Everyone else's dog is absolutely wonderful.
