Re: [pyrnet] URGENT: abandoned Pyr Corsicana, Texas

Corsicana has a large number of sheep and goat ranches, plus it is not
all that far from Canton Flea market, which puts a lot of dogs through
for those who buy on a whim.
Coupled by the old attitude that "it's just a dog" which seems to be
prevalent here.
I think it is real easy for some of these people to just up and walk
away, and never think twice. Especially breeds that worked with the
stock in one form or another. Seems to be this notion that everything is
just going to take care of itself. Sad to say, I think there is a lot of
ignorance that plays a big part, topped off with loads of apathy toward
animals.

As I have mentioned before, we are part of a P.B. pig rescue group here
too. Friday night my hubby and the husband of the gal that runs the
sanctuary went on a late evening run to try to rescue a wee little pig
that was attacked by running dogs. That little boy died in my husbands
arms on the way to the Emergency room. Castrated, most of it's rear end
ripped away, deep tearing gashes to its abdomen, and sides. Even
blanketed it totally bled out in my husbands lap and he was just
saturated in blood when they got in at night. The guys said he was a
real beauty, show quality, well cared for, and someone was doing to be
devastated when they got home and found out what happened. To their
credit it was utility co, employees that got the dogs off the pig, and
stood guard over it till Bob and Robert could get there. But the dogs
continue to run free in Texas, and the only uproar is when they do that
to a child. If you love animals, this is often a hard place to tolerate
the treatment of them, due to lack of care! Cindy
