Linda, coyotes in particular prefer to get their meat the easy way.  Thus
a dead lamb in the field will bring them around more readily.  I think
that was the point in the Pyrs. eating them, and frankly knowing how the
cleanup crew works it makes perfect sense to me.  I just didn't see the
notion about fresh meat turning the dogs into eating machines, consuming
everything they have ever tasted.  I didn't see that part at all, and
considered it to be a foolish notion.  I just asked for verification on
that.

When one of my friends calves died in the night, her poor Pyr. was
virtually exhausted the following morning from trying to keep the carcass
away from a large pack of Coyotes all night long.  The coyotes knew it
was there and wanted it.  Poor Ida May, never gave it up till Chris came
out, found it and buried it.  Although she was seriously outnumbered, she
held that dead calf.  Cindy
