Bridget, feel no guilt over this thread. You asked a legitimate
question. Here's a legitimate answer from my Vet. Neuter surgery
on a male dog who has both testicles fully descended is
considered minor surgery, barring unforseen complications. It
also takes on the average about 10 minutes to perform. Spay
surgery is much more complicated as it is, in effect, a
hysterectomy, and is considered major surgery. This surgery takes
quite a bit onger and varies in duration due to multilpe factors
including, but not limited to, size and condition of dog, age of
dog and amount of fat iin the abdomen.
