Re: Re(2): [pyrnet] new behavior-growling at small dog

well, i think that food aggression is quite common in pyrs - at least from
what i've seen w/rescues and just other dogs. i have one that's major
aggressive (alpha) except for those in her immediate family. and one time
she wasn't feeling good and she even attacked her little girl. but, she was
grouchy then. i do have to separate her from my "outside the family" female
and i have to separate my "outside the family" male from the father and son.
so i have 2 on the deck - they are boyfriend and girlfriend so they don't
fight - and the other 4 family members in the yard. now, when i brought my
last rescue in he had to eat w/the other two on the porch b/c he wouldn't
eat otherwise (felt left out, i suppose). they didn't mind him - BUT, he
didn't go try to eat their food, i don't think. i think he understood, but,
they gave him slack too b/c he was so tiny. you could tell they knew he was
harmless and needed extra tlc. all of them did, actually. anyway, there
are a lot of pyrs out there that are food aggressive w/other dogs and some
i've seen w/people. i suppose a lot of it depends on their upbringing and
the breeder. here we have a lot of bad breeding and they sell them like
hotcakes. both of those factors make a difference i think.
