[pyrnet] Close call

Ever since Anais came into my life, I've feared that one day I would see her running in the street when I came home from work.  Why?  Mostly because I'm a worrier.  Partly because my son is somewhat less than reliable.  I am so careful to make sure that I always leave them in a secure place when I'm not around and leave strict rules that they are to be watched when let out in the yard, etc.

Today, I was driving home from work and there, one house before ours I saw a big white fluffy dog walking along the side of the road.  It couldn't be Anais!  but who else could it be?  I pulled over slowly, afraid that she would run in front of my own car.  I got out and thank God that she ran to greet me.  I put my arm around her and fumbled for her collar so I could lead her back to the house, but there was none on her.  I managed to get the back door of the car open without letting go of her and she got right in.  As I pulled out of the driveway, my son was on his way out of the house  with her collar and lease.  He says that she was only out for a couple of minutes.  The door to the garage and inside garage door were open and Ciaran had his collar and leash on in the house.  My son says that his friend came over and Anais pushed thought the kitchen gate past him and out the front  door.  That d! oesn't explain the open garage door or the collar & leash on Ciaran or why his friend was not around if this happened 2 minutes before as she was coming in.  I will probably never know what really happened.  I'm just very, very glad that she's home and seems to be OK (although panting a lot.)  And I hope that my son learned a lesson and will be much more careful in the future.
