Re: [pyrnet] skinny dog

Getting weight on a pyr is always a problem The only thing we have ever
found that works for us short of stuffing the dog is something made locally
called "Crumble". A formulation by a canine nutritionist that comes in small
baggie type bage that you can crumble on the regular food. The dogs love it
and unlike Satin balls it is fully cooked. E-Coli is too dangerous for the
raw hamburger in things like Satin balls and this is higher nutrient and not
greasy at all. It is made in very small quanities by the people who
formulate, but it really stimulates the appititite of the dog and they eat
much better. In fact you have to watch and make sure they do not get too
fat. It is expensive as things like this go at about $3.00 a pound, but you
would only feed about 6 oz for slow weight gain or 8 oz or more for faster.
Sick or stressed out dogs can eat more and the imporvement is amazing. All
natural products and it comes frozen. Beef and cerial based. Complete dog
food. Hard to get. Most used by a select crowd in the show world for
obvious reasons. The coat literally blooms and they do not seem to go into
the same drastic summer coat shed we generally see here in the deep south and
rhey recover much more rapidly.
